Norwegian Drama Opens International Film Festival Cinematik in Piestany

Piestany, September 12 (TASR) - Norwegian co-production drama 'What Will People Say' directed by Iram Haq opened the 13th international film festival Cinematik in Piestany (Trnava region) on Tuesday (September 11), TASR has learnt from the festival's spokesman Peter Konecny.
A total of 79 feature-length movies (including 50 in the Slovak premiere) and 18 short films will be screened within the festival until Sunday (September 16).
This year Cinematik has two competition and 12 non-competition sections. Viewers will have a chance to see 10 movies within the main competition section called 'Meeting Point Europe', organised under the auspices of the International Federation of Film Critics FIPRESCI. The second competition section is Cinematik.dok, dedicated to the local documentary production.
Every year the festival is dedicated to filmmakers of a particular country. This year it will present Norway under the Magnifying Glass, including a retrospection of world-known director Joachim Trier. The festival will commemorate late Slovak director Juraj Herz by a special section.
The prize award ceremony is scheduled for Sunday. The festival will be concluded by the Spanish-French mysterious drama 'Everybody Knows', the latest movie by two-time Oscar holder, Iranian director Asghar Farhadi.
Cinematik is being held with a support of the Audiovisual Fund and the Finance Ministry. Actor Bozidara Turzonovova is its honorary director, while Vladimir Stric is its artistic director.
Cinematik was visited by over 14,000 viewers last year.
